I'm super excited to announce that preorders of my book Good in Theory are open NOW! I've never done preorders before, so I'm thrilled to see that they are rolling in. Wow!
Good in Theory was my favorite project so far. It was a difficult story to tell because I had to get all the pieces just right for it to make sense chronologically and with the mystery aspect. It's really hard to have a character be naive about something that the author knows, lol!
Lacey has been my favorite heroine to write so far, as well. She's funny and quirky. She sees the world in a totally unique way. And she loves to interweave memories into her present moment. Her story was so thick and alive with everything that she had every experienced. Plus, I loved that she was not only a clever and beautiful woman, but also one who connects deeply with others and loves being outside. She sees the world through very open eyes and absorbs all the senses of it when she's out and about. She was so much fun!
In case you missed it, here is the short version of Good in Theory:
Quirky salmon scientist Dr. Lacey Sturm's life spirals into chaos, prompting a heartfelt and hilarious journey of self-discovery, rekindled family ties, and unexpected romance in Good in Theory.

Like most authors, by the time Good in Theory was at editing, I was already thinking about the next story, which features Lacey's sister Morgan. I got to know her a little bit over the past couple weeks while writing her book outline and penning the first chapter and a half. Today, I got to hear critique from my writing group, and they loved it. But, I noticed the same issue that I had with the last book: a bumpy beginning. Yeah, even authors have trouble figuring out where to start.
I had let Morgan tell me her story because, honestly, I didn't know where to begin, and she started talking about how she compares life to a bowl of cherries, but not in the traditional way. She sees it as a bowl of fruit that is about to rot, so you better pluck a good one and enjoy it! She's a seize the day kinda girl, basically the opposite of how I handle things, so I'm sure she will be a hoot to write!
By the way, if you're in the Pittsburgh area, please add this fantastic event to your calendar: Spring Local Author Fair! I'm hosting this event in partnership with the South Fayette Library, with sponsorship by Ironed Words Productions. It's April 5th from 12-4 at the South Fayette Community Building, and 15 local authors will be there with their books! Yes, you can get a signed copy of Good in Theory (or any of the other authors' books) while you're there, so be sure to check it out!
I found this very insightful and well-articulated.
Thank you!
